GEORGE PRESTON (G.P.) CALLISON, JR., was born in Greenwood, South Carolina, on December 25, 1954. He graduated from Clemson University (B.A., 1977) and received his M.S. in Public Administration from Florida State University (1978) where he was a member of Pi Alpha Alpha, the Public Administration Honor Society. Mr. Callison graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1982 and was awarded the Juris Doctor degree. G.P. served as a Law Clerk for the South Carolina House Judiciary Committee in 1980 and the South Carolina Attorney General from 1980-1981. He was a lecturer of Business Law at Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina, from 1983-1990. Mr. Callison is an active member of the South Carolina Bar Association where he has held several leadership positions including: Member Executive Council, Young Lawyers Division, 1984-1987; Council Member, Torts and Insurance Practice Section, 1985 - 1991, Chairman, 1990-1991; Member of the House of Delegates, 1993-present. He is a member of the Greenwood County Bar Association and served as its President in 2008. He is active in Government Law and is a member of the South Carolina County Attorneys Association. In addition to the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Callison is admitted to practice in the United States District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Away from the office, Mr. Callison enjoys many activities including cooking, tennis, working out and hiking Carolina mountain trails.
